Research interests: Environmental chemistry. I am specifically interested in the identification, distribution and behavior of organic contaminants in aquatic systems. My research activities include:a) Developing new methods based on gas and liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry for the determination of priority (e.g., PAHs, pesticides, PCBs) and emerging (pharmaceuticals and personal care products) organic contaminants in all kind of matrices.b) Monitoring the concentrations of these compounds in the environment by direct analysis and the use of passive samplers and dated sediment cores.c) Characterizing their fate through laboratory experiments (e.g., aerobic and anaerobic biodegradation, photodegradation, sorption, and bioaccumulation).Education: Marie Curie FP7 Post-doc position at School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (Stony Brook University, NY) (2008-2010), Ph.D. Environmental Chemistry at University of Cadiz (2007), B.S. Marine Sciences at University of Cadiz (2000).
