Comportamiento y estudio de materiales en medio marino

CORROSIÓN EN AMBIENTES MARINOS: Esta línea se enmarca en la estrategia de impulso a las energías renovables marinas que propone El Campus de Excelencia Internacional del Mar. Su objetivo es estudiar el comportamiento de diferentes materiales en ambientes marinos, principalmente subacuáticos, y proponer medidas paliativas frente a su deterioro. Esta línea es de especial interés para la mejora de los materiales empleados en la industria off-shore y en la instrumentación oceanográfica.

ARQUEOMETRÍA: Esta línea se enmarca en la estrategia de impulso del valor cultural del mar que propone el Campus de Excelencia Internacional del Mar. Su objetivo es la datación de los objetos y vestigios de los yacimientos arqueológicos, principalmente subacuáticos, la caracterización de materiales que allí se encuentran, la determinación de sus propiedades físicas y químicas y de la tecnología empleada en su fabricación, y la propuesta de técnicas de estabilización y conservación de los mismos.

DESARROLLO DE CAPAS DE PROTECCIÓN: Su objetivo es proponer y optimizar nuevos métodos de protección frente a la corrosión de bajo impacto ambiental, basados principalmente en el desarrollo de capas de conversión con elementos lantánidos y películas delgadas de oxinitruros de zirconio.
